CAS(E) This Sketch #7–Warmest Winter Wishes

Hola Peeps!

Holy smokes – I can’t believe it’s been two weeks since I posted on my blog!!  Where the heck did this month go?!  I hope that you had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday.  No doubt you’re fully engrossed in the holidays now!  I’m really struggling with the fact that Christmas is less than 30 days away . . . eeek!!

cts7 Graphic

So, I’m back today with the latest CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.  Are you all enjoying these sketches as much as I am?!!  OH EM GEE!!  So fun, right?!  This week’s sketch was designed by Jackie Rockwell – those clean lines just make me swoon!

CTS7 - Warmest Winter Wishes

I decided to go with the whimsical look – and kept it VERY clean and simple.  I love the look of mixing designer papers, but I struggle with doing it, especially when I’m trying to stay CAS.  However, I’ve found that if I stick to the smaller prints, and use the simplest of the patterns as my focal panel, it’s more appealing to the eye – more balanced.  So that’s what I’ve done here.  This could so very easily be mass produced for holiday cards . . . maybe I should get on that, huh?!  LOL

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Winter Wishes (W Plus 9 Designs)
INK:  Black Dye Ink (Hero Arts/Memento)
PAPER:  Merry & Bright 6 x 6 DP (Carta Bella), Solar White CS (Neenah Classic Crest)
OTHER:  Chartreuse Saddle Stitched Ribbon (PTI), Zig Zag Ribbons (American Crafts), Corner Chomper (We R Memory Keepers), Linen Impression Plate (PTI)

You so need to click on through to the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge Blog to see what the other designers have created for your inspiration and viewing pleasure – those girls never cease to amaze me with their brilliance!  Can’t wait to see what you all come up with, too!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I’ve got a fun and crafty weekend ahead of me.  Some pretty cute girls are coming over on Friday for a potluck and lots of crafting – can’t wait for that!  Hope you have some great plans in store for your weekend, too!

CAS(E) This Sketch #6–Grateful For You!

Hello Again!!

CTS6 Graphic

First of all, can I tell you how much I enjoyed drooling all over the entries for last week’s challenge?!!  You all knocked that one right outta the proverbial park!  I hope that you’ll be equally inspired by this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge.  Lisa designed this baby, and I feel like it has so many possibilities, don’t you?!

CTS6 - Grateful For You

Since next week is Thanksgiving, I felt like a “thankful” card was in order.  As is almost always the case with me, I flipped and and rearranged the sketch to suit my purposes, trying desperately to keep the design as CLEAN & SIMPLE as possible (those are the rules, after all!)  I stamped the flourish using watermark ink onto kraft cardstock.  I then die cut the leaves out of four different colors of cardstock, wrinkled and bent them a bit (to give them that “wind blown” look) and adhered them with dimensional tape.  The sentiment was stamped in brown pigment ink, and everything is “texturized” with a linen impression plate.

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Handwritten Sentiments (Simon Says Stamps), Fancy Flourishes (PTI)
INK:  Chocolate Pigment (Fresh Ink), VersaMark (Tsukineko)
PAPER:  Desert Storm CS (Neenah Classic Crest), Brown Smoothie CS (Bazzill Basics Paper), Daffodil Delight CS, Pumpkin Pie CS, Kiwi Kiss CS, and Cajun Craze CS (Stampin’ Up!)
OTHER:  Leaves Dies (Impression Obsession), Linen Impression Plate (PTI)

We hope that you’ll play along with this week’s sketch!  Be sure and click on through to the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge Blog to see what the other ladies have created for your viewing pleasure.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I’m still in Las Vegas celebrating our 32nd Wedding Anniversary (I know, can you believe my husband has put up with me for 32 years?!  LOL) and my sister’s 50th birthday (even though she turned 50 last year – ha!)  Somehow I agreed to go on the zipline on Fremont Street with her – pray for me!  LOL

CAS(E) This Sketch #5–Thinking of You

Hello!!

cts_dt_badge

I am thrilled to tell you that the uber talented Jackie Rockwell has offered me a spot on the CAS(E) This Sketch design team!  I nearly peed my pants with excitement for many reasons, but mostly because her team is amazing and I adore a fabulous sketch – don’t you?!!!  Today is my first sketch to share with you all, so let’s get to it, shall we?

CTS5 Graphic

How fun is this sketch?  Being the rebel that I am, I totally flipped that baby around and came up with my take on the sketch.

CTS5 - Thinking of You

So, I took inspiration from a flower pot design that I saw in the window of Crate and Barrel this summer.  I love the color blocked look of the turquoise and green, and then the graphic look of the birds on a wire.  I created the design in my Silhouette Cameo – the Birds on a Wire design was altered to just include the three birds (there were several birds in the original design).  The sentiment is from one of my favorite Hero Arts sentiment sets.

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Say It All (Hero Arts)
INK:  Black Dye (Memories/Hero Arts)
PAPER:  Tempting Turquoise and Kiwi Kiss CS (Stampin’ Up!), Black Licorice CS (French Poptone)
OTHER:  Linen Impression Plate (PTI), Birds On A Wire Cutting File (Silhouette Online Store, Design #17150), Silhouette Cameo (Silhouette America)

I’m excited beyond belief to be a part of this fabulous team.  Please click on through to the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge Blog to see what the other ladies on the team came up with for your viewing pleasure and inspiration – you’re going to be blown away!  We’d love to see your take on the sketch!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  One of the winners of the Mama Elephant Gift Certificates that I offered in this post never came forward, so please pop in again tomorrow because I’ll be announcing a new winner – maybe it’ll be you!

The Cameo Spotlight Challenge #7–Color Challenge!

Hello Crafty Friends!

TCS#7 Graphic

We have another super fun challenge to give you and your Silhouette Cameo a chance to “work out” together.  This week’s Cameo Spotlight Challenge is to create a project using the colors in the above graphic.  Easy sleezy, right?!

Paper Smooches Graphic

Our sponsor this week is very near and dear to my heart – Paper Smooches!!  Kim Hughes is the brilliant genius behind Paper Smooches, and I’m lucky enough to call her my friend.  Kim was kind enough to sponsor today’s challenge and not only shared some stamps with each of us on the design team, but she’s also offered up an amazing prize for this week’s challenge winner!  But you’ll have to click on through to The Cameo Spotlight Challenge Blog to find out what it is!  Oh, and while you’re there, be sure and check out the other outstanding projects that my teammates have prepared for your inspiration.  Thanks, Paper Smooches (and Kim!)!

TCS#7 - Woohoo

Since Jackie was kind enough to change up the rules a bit to include projects other than cards and tags, I thought it’d be fun to create a sweet treat holder.  How cute is that little owl?  He was really easy to create.  I downloaded the 3D Owl Totebox (by Lori Whitlock) from the Silhouette Online Store and cut out the box part from kraft cardstock.  I then selected four different designer papers from the Oh Snap! 6 x 6 pad that I had picked up a few weeks ago – one for the owl’s body, and the other three for the owl’s feathers.  Oh my goodness, that paper pad is full of some delicious colors and patterns!!  I cut the eyes out of some light gray textured cardstock and the nose out of orange textured cardstock.  Assembling this little cutie was super easy too – I just slapped some ScorTape on the tabs and folded it until the edges met up and sealed.  I filled it with some Jelly Bellies and tied it together with some gingham ribbon.  That’s it!  Oh, and the sentiment is from the Paper Smooches set called Chubby Chums.

PRODUCTS USED:

STAMPS:  Chubby Chums (Paper Smooches)
INK:  Chocolate Ink (Fresh Ink)
PAPER:  Oh Snap Designer Paper (Simple Stories), Desert Storm CS (Neenah Classic Crest), Gray, White, Black and Orange CS (Bazzill Basics Paper)
OTHER:  ScorTape (ScorPal), Orange Gingham Ribbon (Bazzill)

CUTTING FILES:  3D Owl Totebox (Silhouette Online Store, Design #33682), Tag (Silhouette Online Store)

Well, that’s it for me today kids.  I’m on my way to Jerome, Arizona, with my Women Who Wine group this weekend.  We’ll be staying in a haunted hotel – YIKES!!  I’m really looking forward to a fun weekend with my chicas!  Hopefully you have some fun planned for yourself, as well.  Thanks so much for stopping by today!
